Introduction
Dear colleague,
The goal of the
Dutch Atherosclerosis Society (DAS) is to stimulate the development and performance of clinical and basic scientific research in the field of atherosclerosis and vascular biology. The main focus with this is translating and linking basic science into clinical practice (‘from bench to bedside’), whereas the DAS plays an important role in exchanging existing knowledge and new insights. A major element of the DAS activities is its annual scientific
'Cardiovascular Biology Meeting'.
On
Thursday 25th and Friday 26th of March 2010 the 13
th DAS Cardiovascular Biology Meeting will be organised. This 2-day symposium has an exclusive training and educational programme for PhD students and medical specialists (in training) on Thursday followed by a jointly dinner. On Friday the scientific programme is compiled by numerous brief presentations of submitted and selected abstracts in combination with poster sessions and a keynote lecture presented by an international renowned expert in atherosclerosis and/or vascular biology. The symposium will take place in
Hotel and Congress Center 'De Reehorst' in Ede.
During the first day lectures will be given by (inter)national opinion leaders working in the field of atherosclerosis, vascular biology & medicine or cardiology. On day two during plenary sessions numerous lectures will be given by PhD students, preselected by the DAS Board on submitted abstracts. These abstracts will be categorised into 3 topics:
- Lipid metabolism & Metabolic diseases
- Vascular biology & Vascular medicine
- Clinical & Experimental cardiology
The best presentation from each category will be honoured with a DAS-Fellowship of € 1000.
All other submitted abstracts will be presented on Friday during the poster sessions of which the best posters will receive the DAS poster awards (€ 500). All fellowships and awards are to be spent on a thesis or congress related to atherosclerosis or vascular biology.
The DAS Cardiovascular Biology meeting is a unique platform to initiate and expand your contacts with colleagues from different institutes and innovative industry in the cardiovascular field.
We are looking forward meeting you on March 25 & 26, 2010 in Ede!
